MY REFLECTIONS
1. Reflection for My Teaching Experience
Practice
teaching is really the proof that teaching is not about what you get, but
rather it is actually about what you give. This is also the proof that teaching
is not about salary, it is about happiness and fulfillment.
I’m so
excited when I know that I was accepted for teaching in Malacampa Elementary
School. This is my first experience for teaching in another country. But, in
the same time, I’m so afraid to make mistakes.
In my
two weeks of teaching, I learned how to manage different behavior of different
students, learned to manage my time, learned to handle stress, accept comment
and suggestions, open my heart to accept and give love for my student.
This
challenge and experience makes me realize one thing: “teaching is a big
responsibility”. But, you must be enjoy in teaching and trust of yourself,
trust of your students, trust your cooperating teacher and supervisor, and most
specially trust God.
2. Reflection on Learners
“Every child is special”
This is true as everyone is
different from each other. Children have their own way of learning and they
have their own abilities.
The hardest and best moment I have
encountered during my practice teaching journey is on how to communicate with
the children, because the children still use mother tongue (Tagalog and
Ilocano). But, I enjoyed everything, and I learned a lot about their language.
Teaching is a big responsibility, thinking that you will be handling thirty student with differences really make you give up, but the most important thing and the best thing is the happiness and fulfillment student can give.
3. Reflection on Making Lesson Plan
“A goal without a plan is just a
wish”
Before, I am so confused on what is
the importance of lesson plan. Now, I’m understand the importance of lesson
plan it based on my experiences and observation. Planning is troublesome; you
should consider a lot of things, their differences, uniqueness, and ensure that
activities is suite to them but it is really a help specially to a teacher
because without it, it will be a mess.
4. Reflection on Making Instructional Materials
Instructional material has a big
part of the teaching and learning process. Materials often seem more prominent
than any other element of a curriculum according to an article I have read.
On my practice teaching journey,
making instructional materials is one of the difficult thing I have encountered
because it always gives me hard time, stress, and sleepless nights just to make
it more meaningfull, pleasing to the eyes, and visually presented.
